Hippos at water hole, Tsavo National Park, Kenya in 2020 – by George Vlad

“Hippos spend a lot of time frolicking at water holes in the savanna. Every now and then they will move around or utter a call that sounds a lot like rubbing a huge rubber balloon. This is obviously a very interesting thing to capture the sound of, so on my trip to East Africa I set up several sound recording rigs around water holes. Two of them got wrecked by baboons but I still managed to capture several hours of gentle ambience like this one.
