Walking on gravel, Eastern Alps, Italy in July 2021 – by Jacopo Furlanetto

“An uphill walk on a rocky gravel path on the Eastern Alps usually results in one step ahead and two steps back. The rocks are sometimes the size of a foot, edgy and not yet smoothened by their long journey to the sea. They keep rolling below the shoe as if they were water – or glass, judging from their sound – making it hard to proceed. These rocks have their own way of making you walk.”
