Fallen Tree, Hampstead Heath, London, UK, night-time on 28th June 2020 – by Eleanor McDowall

“Last night we watched a tree fall. A loud crack – before the landscape fell apart. It collapsed in front of the moonlit lake across the path behind us. Branches cracking in a series of tiny fractures as it fell. Lying on its back it stretched out metres long, it must have been reaching upward for at least a century. We stood amidst the broken branches to record the rustling leaves.”
