London Fields, under social distancing, London, UK on 16th March 2020 – by Charlie Shackleton

“I recently starting subletting a room in a house on the edge of London Fields in East London, so I’m going to be doing a lot of listening to fields while social distancing over the coming weeks and months. I recorded this audio over our garden wall on the first really nice day of spring, when London Fields would usually be packed. Instead I could hear only a few sparse sounds, from an indeterminate whoosh at 0:17, to a woman shouting “pregnant!” at 3:39, while the sporadic thump of a kicked football pierced the silence like a distant firework.”
