River walk, Vilnius, Lithuania on 31st March, 2020 – by Vaida Pilibaityte

“Daily walk along the Neris River has been my only time outside since the announcement of quarantine nearly three weeks ago. Before it used to be relaxing. Now it’s a bit strange and intense, as I have to make sure to keep the ‘recommended’ 2 meters distance from other walkers, runners and cyclists. To avoid thinking about it all the time, I started taking those walks early in the morning. This spot is halfway, around 3 km in. The birdsong finally takes over from cars and crows, and for a moment I forget about the strange times we’re in. I listen to a chaffinch and observe two magpies building a nest at the top of a tree. Then I turn around and walk back feeling much better for a bit.”
