Hough End Clough, Manchester, UK on 21st March 2020 – by OD Davey

“Hough End Clough (pronounced ‘huff end cloff’) is a thin strip of land between a main road and a police-dog kennel in south-central Manchester, UK, a between-space now nurtured by wildlife enthusiasts and frequented by walkers, fly tippers and rough sleepers. It skirts the bank of Chorlton Brook, the only remnant of the wild land this end of the city was built upon, and wild it feels (a Kingfisher bombs silently past the microphone at seventeen minutes in, take my word for it).”
